Audi is finally set to release the next generation 2015 Audi A4 Plug-In Hybrid. The new A4, which is a plug-in Hybrid, is expected to have the same dimension as the current model. You should also expect a few design variations in the new A4; this should include a convertible, a coupe and an All-round sedan. A few changes you can expect in the Audi A4 include; wider taillights, Full LED lights, reshaped versions of its signature LED daytime running lights, and a rear spoiler to enhance its aerodynamics.
The new Audi A4 is powered by a 125Kg battery mounted under the rear seat while the fuel tank has been conveniently repositioned under the boot floor, which has been slightly raised to create the required room. The German carmaker has been able to churn out impressive designs so far, the 2015 Audi A4 Plug-In Hybrid is therefore expected to be no different turning heads everywhere you drive it.
2015 Audi A4 Plug-In Hybrid Engine
You should expect a 2.0L TFSI (Turbo Fuel Stratified Injection) engine under the hood capable of producing up to 211Hp. This will also feature a cylinder deactivation function, which shuts down two cylinders when the engine is on low or medium load to reduce fuel consumption.
The electric powertrain is expected to include a 95Hp Motor, which also serves as the engine’s starter. The motor draws power from an 8.8kWh battery power the car to a range of 31 miles on full electric mode.
Performance and consumption
Its 2.0L TFSI engine is able to propel it from 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds. It is also able to achieve a top speed of 138mph. On full electric power, you should be able to travel at speeds as high as 80mph.
The cylinder shutdown function adds to its fuel efficiency giving it an unbelievable fuel consumption rating of 188.3mpg.
There are a number of changes to the cars interior too. For example, Audi has borrowed the centre console design from the A8/S8. It has also included a large touch screen display. The car is also set to feature a heads up display technology and a rear view mirror with a built in digital display.
Despite the fact that the fuel tank is located very close to the car’s rear end, the car is able to take rear impact at speeds of up to 50mph without the plastic tank rupturing. It will also have the standard safety features like ABS, Front and Side airbags and Abs.
This new hybrid is definitely going to be one of the few cars today able to offer qualities of a sports performances car and a fuel-saver all at once.
